Ten tijde van de release de duurste film ooit gemaakt in Frankrijk, dit historische melodrama van Cyrano de Bergerac-regisseur Rappeneau. De film speelt zich af in 1832. Napoleon is van het toneel en er heerst een machtsvacuüm in Frankrijk, dat bovendien geteisterd wordt door verschrikkelijke cholera-epidemieën. Dit is het decor van een onmogelijke liefdesgeschiedenis tussen een Italiaanse avonturier (Martinez) en een getrouwde Franse adellijke dame (Binoche). Mooie mensen, fraaie kostuums, prachtige landschappen, aangrijpende beelden van de cholera-patiënten en -slachtoffers, maar Martinez slaagt er niet in om de film een ziel te geven.

Adieux après adieux, Nicolas Le Riche s'était préparé à cette soirée que la planète danse attendait avec impatience depuis plus d’un an. Le monde des balletomanes a d’ailleurs pu suivre la soirée en live sur Arte. Cette soirée était très bien agencée, presque trop et il manquait un aspect improvisation d'adieux, comme pour Letestu ou Ciaravola cette année qui dansaient par ailleurs sur des ballets tragiques. Mais à l'inverse de ces deux dernières, Nicolas a réellement eu droit à un programme sur mesure, une carte blanche, lui permettant de faire le bilan qu'il voulait de ses années à l'Opéra.
